Every single registered domain has a minimum of 2 Name Server records which show where it is hosted i.e. by using these records you point your Internet domain to the servers of a certain hosting provider. That way, you have got both your website and your e-mails managed by the same service provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), however, there is a variety of other records, for instance A and MX. The first one shows which server deals with the website for a given Internet domain and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the latter indicates which server manages the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). For instance, when you type a domain in your Internet browser, your request is directed through the global DNS system to the provider whose NS records the domain address uses and from there you will be sent to the servers of another service provider if you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your domain address. Having separate records for the website and the e-mails means that you could have your website and your e-mails with two different providers if you'd like.

Custom MX and A Records in Hosting

If you have a hosting from us, you'll be able to see, create and change any A or MX record for your Internet addresses. So long as a particular domain has our Name Servers, you are going to be able to to change certain records by using our Hepsia hosting CP and have your website or emails directed to another company if you would like to use only one of our services. Our innovative tool is going to enable you to have a domain address hosted here and a subdomain below it to be hosted someplace else by modifying only its A record - this will not affect the main domain address at all. If you want to use the e-mail services of a different service provider and they want you to create more than two MX records, you can easily do it with simply a couple of mouse clicks through the DNS Records section of your Control Panel. Also you can set different latency for every single MX record i.e. which one will have priority.

Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Servers

With the semi-dedicated servers that we offer, you are going to have total control over the records of all domains and subdomains you add in your hosting account. You can easily check what A and MX records each one of them has using the DNS Records section of the Hepsia hosting CP and changing any record requires only a few mouse clicks. If you decide to change your web or e-mail hosting provider, you can update the necessary record and point your domain name to the other service provider for one of the services, while you still keep using the other one through us. You may also keep the main domain address here, while you edit the A record of only one of its subdomains. In case you are changing the MX records and you need additional ones on top of the standard 2 that we have, you can create them with ease and set a different priority for each one.
