All generic Top-Level Domain extensions and certain country-code ones support a security lock option whose purpose is to block unsolicited transfers of existing domains. Many domain name registry operators that oversee country-code Top-Level Domains that do not support this option are in the process of introducing it for better safety and for the convenience of the domain name registrants. A domain name can be transferred only on the condition that it is unlocked and only an individual who has access to the account with the current domain registrar can do that. New domains are registered with the lock feature enabled intentionally, so as to hinder any unsanctioned transfer attempts. The lock option is one of the security measures for controlling the transfer of existing domain names between domain name registrars that have been introduced over the years.

Registrar Lock in Hosting

If you buy a hosting from our company, you will be able to manage all domain names registered through us using our Hepsia Control Panel and you will be able to unlock any of them with just a few clicks of the mouse. All registrations will be listed alphabetically in the Domain Manager section of the hosting Control Panel and for each one of them you’ll notice a mini padlock icon. Clicking on it will show you the present security lock status. If the domain is locked and you would like to transfer it away, you will just need to click once again and that’s it. Locking a domain is just as easy and since the domain names are managed in the exact same place as the hosting account itself, you won’t need to sign in and out of different admin interfaces.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers

If you’ve registered a domain through our company and you’d like to transfer it, you can easily unlock it via the exact same Hepsia Control Panel, which you use to administer your semi-dedicated server account. All registrations will be listed in alphabetical order in your account and you’ll notice a tiny padlock icon next to each domain name there, on the condition that its extension supports the registrar lock option. You can see if the domain is locked or not by clicking on this icon and alter the present status by clicking on it once more. You can then go ahead and start the domain transfer straight away without the need to wait for the status to be updated on WHOIS lookup websites, as the change will take effect immediately without you or us having to do anything else.
